Care Of Under 18s & Pastoral Care

The health, safety and wellbeing of our students is our main priority. Our whole team works together to keep students safe and well and we have two residential Student Welfare Managers who are available 24 hours a day for students and their parents.

The Student Welfare Managers help homesick children, organise airport transfers, support students with special needs or diets, give first aid and organise care of students who are ill.
We run a well-planned and well-supervised programme to keep our students safe at all times. Students are always supervised and cannot leave the campus without their group leader or a member of the FCLC team.

Student Welfare Managers and residential staff supervise students during activities, weekend trips and in the boarding houses. At least three activity leaders stay in each boarding house, and each house has a Senior House Leader. Teachers supervise students in class and on weekday trips.
In our most recent full, in-person British Council inspection (2016), we were awarded seven areas of strength, including care of under 18s, quality assurance, care of students, premises and facilities, accommodation, staff management and leisure opportunities.

Our programme is for under 18s, so students are not mixed with adults in accommodation, lessons or activities. 18 year old students are only accepted as part of a secondary school group of students in the same class where the majority are under 18 years old. 18-year-olds must follow all school rules as minors.
We want every student on our programme to feel like they belong and they can be themselves.
We expect everyone on our programme to treat others with respect. We teach students how to think for themselves and to be kind. We also encourage them to understand and appreciate people who have different cultures, beliefs and ways of life.
