College history

Founded in 1870, Fettes College is the legacy of Sir William Fettes who, after the death of his son in 1815, devoted his wealth to building a school for children.

The main Bryce building is one of Scotland’s most beautiful buildings. Set in 90 acres of private grounds, the campus is only 25 minutes away from Edinburgh International Airport and 15 minutes from Waverley train station.

Within the school grounds there is a wide range of excellent facilities including a theatre, music and art rooms, tennis and basketball courts, a large indoor sports hall and playing fields for outdoor sports and activities.
