The National Museum of Flight & North Berwick

Every weekend, we take our students on full-day excursions to interesting and fun places outside Edinburgh that have some connection with our weekly themes. At least once each summer, we take our students to East Lothian, where they visit the National Museum of Flight and the coastal village of North Berwick.

The National Museum of Flight is an aviation museum featuring military and commercial aircraft and includes one of just 14 Concorde production aeroplanes ever built. Our students learn about the history of flight and the stories of the women and men brave enough to fly in the early days of aviation. The museum also features hands-on interactive displays, historic hangars and extensive outdoor areas.

After a morning at the museum, we drive a short distance to North Berwick, a pleasant seaside town boasting great beaches and coastal scenery as well as an interesting mix of shops and cafes. If the weather is good, the students can go for a bracing dip in the North Sea while those less adventurous can sit or play on the beach, shop and explore the town.
